Italy's black female prime minister is the target of insults.
After being ridiculed by MEP Mario Borghezio, Cecile Kyenge was called a "Congolese monkey" by fascist websites; the outrage generated by the statements led the government to authorize an investigation.
On the 21 - The appointment of Cecile Kyenge as Italy's first black minister – which would be a symbol of racial integration in the country – suffered a major setback when MEP Mario Borghezio ridiculed what he described as the new "bonga bonga government" – a reference to "bunga bunga," as the orgies hosted by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi when he was in power became known.
In an interview with Radio 24, Borghezio stated that Cecile would try to “impose the tribal traditions” of Congo on Italy with her project that grants immediate citizenship to the children of immigrants born in the country, who today have to wait until they turn 18 to apply for citizenship. The revulsion generated by the statements led the government to authorize, this Wednesday (1), the opening of an investigation into fascist pages on the internet, whose members called Cecile a “Congolese monkey”.
