The President of Montenegro has high expectations for cooperation with China.
The two countries already have a long-standing friendship.
China Radio International In an interview with China Media Group (CMG), the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, mentioned his country's relationship with China, stating that both sides established a diplomatic bond 16 years ago and have a long-standing traditional friendship. He believes that the two countries will continue to maintain mutual trust and respect each other's chosen path of development, which forms the core of their bilateral relations.
According to Đukanović, both sides have managed to raise the level of cooperation through various mechanisms, primarily the Belt and Road Initiative. In recent decades, investment and trade between the two countries have seen a notable increase, and partnerships in various areas have been deepened. Đukanović believes the basis for cooperation between the two countries has been steadily improving, and both sides will promote partnerships to achieve greater progress.
Đukanović hopes that China's cooperation experiences with Central and Eastern Europe can be replicated in his country, highlighting infrastructure partnerships. He also emphasized that the Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021 and declared the achievement of its first centennial goal, namely the comprehensive construction of a moderately prosperous society. Currently, China has already become the world's second-largest economy and has completed the goals set out in the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ten years ahead of schedule.
