Brasilia – Argentine President Cristina Kirchner announced that she will travel to Havana, Cuba, on the 10th. She intends to visit Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, who has been hospitalized in the Cuban capital for almost a month for cancer treatment. The presidents are friends and maintain close political, economic, and commercial relations. From Cuba, Cristina Kirchner will travel to the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

On the 10th, Chávez's inauguration ceremony is scheduled, following his re-election for a fourth term, a move that is generating controversy due to the Venezuelan's worsening health. The controversy stems from the uncertainty surrounding what will happen if the president is unable to assume power.

For the Brazilian government, the uncertainty does not pose a threat to democratic order in Venezuela, as Venezuelan institutions, according to Brazilian authorities, are solid. Chávez's allies insist that he has the right to be sworn in on a different date than the 10th, while the opposition accuses the government of manipulation.
