Poroshenko says Russian forces have invaded Ukraine.

KIEV (Reuters) Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated on Thursday that Russian forces had invaded Ukraine and called for an urgent meeting of the Ukrainian defense and security council to decide what steps to take next in the crisis.

"I have made the decision to cancel a working visit to the Republic of Turkey because of the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Donetsk region, especially in Amvrosiyivka and Starobesheve, following an invasion by Russian forces," he said in a statement on the presidential website.
