Metropolises - One of the government measures to combat the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, and to mitigate the damage to workers caused by mass layoffs, is the social benefit. A resident of Indiana, in the United States, logged into the application to check his eligibility for the program and discovered that US$8,2 million had been deposited into his account.

The benefit offered by the US government is $1.700, equivalent to approximately R$9. However, the balance checked at an ATM in the city of New Chicago was equivalent to R$43 million.

Charles Calvin went to the ATM to withdraw $200 and decided to check his balance. Upon seeing the amount, he realized something was wrong.

The following week, the money mistakenly deposited into Charles' account was no longer there. "I went from being a millionaire to being broke again in a second," the American told a local TV station.
