247 - Former Brazilian ambassador to Washington and London, Rubens Barbosa, stated to CNN Brazil this Friday (25) that foreign policy in the next Lula (PT) government will aim to "restore Brazil's credibility" abroad.

"The president-elect, there in Egypt, set the tone. There will be an important shift in the direction of foreign policy, with a strong emphasis on environmental policy and international negotiations that will restore Brazil's credibility," he said.

According to Barbosa, the environment should be Brazil's central theme on the international stage. "The environment is currently the most important global issue, and Brazil has a strategic and central position in this. The president-elect understood this, and in his first statement, he made it very clear that this will be the main emphasis of foreign policy."
