Police detain more than 5,5 in protests in Russia against the war in Ukraine.

According to the OVD-Info monitor, more than 2 were arrested this Sunday alone (27) in nearly 50 Russian municipalities.

247 - Police detained more than 2 people on Sunday (27) in 48 cities during protests against Russia's military action in Ukraine. The number of people arrested since last Thursday (24), when Russian troops began entering Ukrainian soil, has now risen to more than 5.500. The figures on the number of detainees were released by the OVD-Info monitor.

The Russian Interior Ministry had told Russians to "refrain from unauthorized protests." Otherwise, they could be "arrested and held accountable."

Other Cities in Europe have seen protests. Protests against Russian military action took place in Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany; Athens, Greece; London, England; Geneva, Switzerland; Helsinki, Finland; and Sydney, Australia.

The Ukrainian government, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Sunday (27) that it had agreed to go to the country's border with Belarus to negotiate a possible ceasefire with Russia, under President Vladimir Putin.

One of the The Ukrainian delegation has already left Kyiv., the country's capital, bound for the city of Gomel, in Belarus.

Russia is trying to block Ukraine's entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), led by the United States, which is seeking to expand its influence in some regions of Europe.
