Pentagon gives green light for Ukraine to carry out drone strikes in Russia, media reports say.
According to The Times, the Pentagon is also evaluating requests for long-range weapons that could be used to attack Russian territory.
Sputnik - The Times newspaper revealed that the Pentagon has quietly given Ukraine the green light to carry out long-range strikes against targets within Russian territory.
The media, citing a US Defense source, indicates that the Pentagon is no longer telling Kiev "not to attack targets on Russian or Crimean territory."
The source also stated that the US "cannot dictate what Kiev should or should not do," and that decisions on how the weapons will be used rest solely with Ukraine.
The newspaper also highlighted that the Pentagon is considering Kiev's requests for long-range weapons that could be used to attack Russian territory.
In early December, Ukraine attacked two Russian air bases in the Ryazan and Saratov regions, located hundreds of kilometers from Donbass.
