247 - The 36th Ordinary Assembly of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), held in Panama, on Saturday (12) endorsed Argentina's legitimate right in the dispute over sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, as well as the surrounding maritime waters, territories usurped by the United Kingdom.

In a statement, Parlatino expressed the region's interest in both countries resuming negotiations to find a peaceful and definitive solution to this dispute as quickly as possible.

The Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), which previously supported Argentina in 2009 and 2013, rejected any unilateral action taken in this geographical area, which would violate United Nations General Assembly Resolution 31/49.

It was recalled that this resolution urges the parties to refrain from introducing modifications and includes, among other things, the exploration and exploitation of the renewable and non-renewable natural resources of the Republic of Argentina, as well as the carrying out of military exercises.

The Parlatino forum also hosted the seminar "The Falklands Question, a Latin American Cause," during which it was stated that Buenos Aires has repeatedly urged London to resume negotiations on the matter, but without any positive gestures from the British side, reports Telesur.
