Pope calls for an end to violence in Venezuela.
"I assure you all of my prayers for every country in Latin America, and especially for neighboring Venezuela," the pontiff stated during his visit to Cartagena, Colombia. "I appeal for the rejection of all violence in political life and for a solution to the current grave crisis, which affects everyone, especially the poorest and most disadvantaged in society," he added, as quoted by Vatican Radio.

Pope Francis on Sunday called for an immediate end to hostilities in Venezuela and for a peaceful solution to the current crisis affecting the country.

Venezuela is in a deep political and economic crisis, divided between supporters of the president. Nicolás Maduro and opponents who are calling for his resignation. Clashes between different groups have led to the deaths of dozens of people and left many others injured over the past few months.
