247 - Leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have accused Russia of lying about its true intentions in Ukraine.

Before the conflict broke out on Thursday the 24th, the Kremlin claimed to be seeking recognition of security guarantees involving the non-expansion of NATO into Ukraine. In the face of repeated provocations Against the republics of Lugansk and Donetsk, which were recognized as independent, the Russian military action moved towards the capital, Kiev.

The Kremlin, therefore, classifies its military action as reactive, and now seeks to remove President Volodymyr Zelensky from power.

Thirty NATO leaders, in a joint statement, described the Russian version as a "package of lies."

"No one should be fooled by the Russian government's package of lies," they said, following a virtual summit chaired by Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

After the meeting, Stoltenberg stated that the United States, Canada, and European allies had mobilized thousands of troops to the east of the alliance. NATO has 100 aircraft on high alert in more than 30 locations, in addition to three aircraft carriers.

Stoltenberg added that the majority of the forces should come from the US. According to him, so far, Ukrainian forces are capable of inflicting losses on the Russians.

"It is still an unstable situation. But what we are seeing is that Ukrainian forces are fighting bravely and continue to have the capacity to inflict losses on the invading Russian forces," he said.
