WHO urges countries to redouble efforts against coronavirus.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, today (12), in Geneva, called on all countries to redouble their commitment against the coronavirus pandemic.
247 - Speaking to diplomats a day after characterizing Covid-19 as a pandemic, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said: "Describing this as a pandemic does not mean that countries should give up. The idea that nations should move from containment to mitigation is wrong and dangerous."
Tedros also stated that, despite maintaining a containment strategy, all countries must "find a good balance between protecting health, preventing economic and social disruption, and respecting human rights," reports the source. Agency Brazil.
