Washington – US President Barack Obama had a “good meeting” with Republican leaders in the House of Representatives on Thursday regarding raising the debt ceiling, but did not comment on the opposition's proposal, the White House said.

"After a discussion about possible paths forward, no specific decision was made. The president hopes to continue making sustained progress with members of both parties," the U.S. Presidency added in a statement at the end of a meeting with Republican negotiators.
