NYT: Young people are pushing the Democratic Party to the left.

247 The main newspaper in the USA, the The New York Times, published with great prominence this Sunday (22) a report in which it indicates that young people are forcing a leftward shift in the bases of the Democratic Party. "There is a revolution on the left. Democrats are preparing," says the title of the report.
According to columnist Nelson de Sá of Folha de S. Paulo, the report amounts to a "mea culpa" from the newspaper, which three weeks ago ignored the fact that socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated Joseph Crowley, leader of the Democratic Party in the House, in the party primaries for New York's 14th district to choose the party's candidate for Congress – in what was considered the biggest surprise of the primaries for the 2018 United States congressional elections.
The report shows how the phenomenon is unfolding in several US states. There is an open dispute between a faction of the Democratic left, renewed after Bernie Sanders' performance in the 2016 party primaries for the presidential nomination. He almost defeated one of the biggest leaders of the party's right wing, Hillary Clinton, who ended up being defeated in the elections by Donald Trump.
According to a New York Times article by Alexander Burns: "A new generation of progressives has placed Democrats on the threshold of a radical transition, far removed not only from the centrist spirit of Bill Clinton but also, perhaps, from the consensus-oriented liberalism of Barack Obama."
