Da Ansa Brasil - The absolute number of deaths per day from the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) in Italy fell compared to the last report. The country had another 683 deaths this Wednesday (25), compared to the 743 deaths on Tuesday (24), bringing the total to 7.503 victims, reported the Civil Defense.

According to the data, Italy has already recorded 74.386 infections, with 57.521 active cases, an increase of 3.491 in one day, the smallest expansion in absolute numbers since March 18. In addition, the number of new positive cases registered a drop for the fourth consecutive day, as yesterday the country had 3.612, on Monday (23), 3.780, and last Sunday, 3.957.

Civil Defense also reported that, of the total number of active infections, 23.112 people are hospitalized with symptoms and 30.920 are in home isolation.

"We are going through a phase of apparent stabilization, and we believe that the number of infected people is consistent with the trend that the spread has had in the country. This makes us think that it is essential to maintain strict containment measures and social distancing if we want to see the curve stabilize and then decrease," said the deputy director of Civil Defense, Agostino Miozzo.

In relation to cured cases, the country registered an increase of another 1.036 in the last 24 hours, reaching 9.362. In total, there are 3.489 patients admitted to intensive care, 93 more than yesterday (24). Of this total number, 1.236 are concentrated in Lombardy, the epicenter of Covid-19 in Italy.

The Lombardy region, in the north of the country, is the most critical place in the country, but has recorded a drop in the growth of infected people and the number of deaths. In one day, 1643 more cases were recorded compared to 1942 yesterday (24), totaling 32.346 infections. The number of daily deaths fell below 300, totaling 296 in the last 24 hours and 4.178 in the consolidated.

The following regions appear next: Emilia-Romagna (10.054), Veneto (6.442), Piedmont (6.024), Marche (2.934), Tuscany (2.972), Liguria (2.305), Lazio (1.901), Campania (1.199), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (1.139), Puglia (1.093), Abruzzo (813), Sicily (994), Umbria (710), Aosta Valley (401), Sardinia (442), Calabria (351), Molise (73), Basilicata (113), Trentino Alto-Adige (1.222) and Bolzano (858).

Currently, Italy has the highest number of cases in Europe, followed by Spain and China. Yesterday, the head of Italy's Civil Protection, Angelo Borrelli, admitted that the number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the country could be up to 10 times higher than the official count released daily. He did not participate in the press conference on Wednesday because he presented symptoms of Covid-19 and is in isolation until he receives the test result.
