Among the organizations responsible for the protest were the Defend Democracy in Brazil Committee, DSA, ISO-NYC, United Against Racism and Fascism, Climate Save, and Coletivo Humanas.
The protesters also condemned imperialist intervention in Venezuela, the handover of the Alcântara Base to the US, and the assassinations of councilwoman Marielle Franco (PSOL) and Dilma Silva, leader of the Movement of People Affected by Dams (MAB).
The activists also stressed that the restoration of democracy in Brazil will only happen with Lula's release.
