Sputnik News - Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari announced today that Boko Haram has finally been defeated. The terrorists have been driven out of the Sambisa forest, the group's last stronghold, and have nowhere left to hide.

Buhari praised Nigerian troops for "finally entering and destroying the remaining Boko Haram insurgents at Camp Zero." He then announced "the long-awaited and gratifying news of the final execution of the Boko Haram terrorists in their last enclave."

The government has now begun a crusade to find the 500 girls kidnapped from a school in the city of Chibok in 2014. They are believed to be held captive in the forest. The president has asked troops to intensify efforts to "locate and free our Chibok girls who are still in captivity."
