Musk again asks Trump to release Epstein documents.
In a post on the X platform, the businessman says the documents should be released "as promised."
Sputnik - American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk has again asked US President Donald Trump to release documents related to American financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The request came after Trump accused Democrats of fraud in creating the Epstein dossier. In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said that Democrats fabricated documents related to Epstein, just as they had misled the public on other issues.
"Seriously. He [Trump] repeated [the name] 'Epstein' about six times while simultaneously telling everyone to stop talking about Epstein. Just release the documents as promised," Musk wrote on his X social network page.
The businessman's post was in response to a user's post with a screenshot of Trump's statement on the Truth Social platform.
Previously, the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice issued a joint statement claiming that Epstein did not blackmail influential people and did not possess a client list. At the same time, in a February interview, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, in response to a question about the list, stated that it was on her desk awaiting review. Bondi later stated that she was not referring to the client list, but rather to case documents.
In 2019, Epstein was indicted in the U.S. for sex trafficking of minors, with a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, with a maximum sentence of five years in prison. According to prosecutors, between 2002 and 2005, Epstein had sexual relations with dozens of underage girls whom he housed in his residences in New York and Florida. He paid hundreds of dollars in cash and then designated some of the victims to serve as recruiters to bring in more girls, some as young as 14.
In early July 2019, a Manhattan court in New York City heard Epstein's testimony and ordered him to remain in custody without bail. In late July of that year, it was reported that Epstein had been found "semiconscious" in his cell and subsequently died. An investigation concluded that he had committed suicide.
