The driver who killed more than 84 people in Nice was born in Tunisia.

Identity documents in the name of a 31-year-old Franco-Tunisian man were found in the white truck used in the terrorist attack in Nice, which left more than 84 dead during the July 14th celebrations in France; "The truck driver has been formally identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel," says the Twitter account of the French agency Nice-Matin; he was known to the French police for common crimes, but not to the intelligence services; investigators are trying to find out if he acted alone or not and are looking for potential accomplices.

The truck driver who killed more than 80 people in Nice has been identified by police, Reuters reported on Friday (15).

"The truck driver has been formally identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel," says the Twitter account of the French news agency Nice-Matin.

According to local media, French security services are currently searching the terrorist's home.

Earlier, Reuters had reported that the truck driver was a 31-year-old Frenchman of Tunisian origin, citing a source close to the investigation.

On Thursday (14), a truck driver ran over a crowd of people who were watching the fireworks in honor of France's national holiday – Bastille Day.

According to witnesses, the truck swerved non-stop for two kilometers along the highway. The driver also fired at people before being killed by police. So far, authorities report 84 dead.

French President François Hollande classified the attack as a terrorist attack.
