Just over 24 hours after losing her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher, artist Debbie Reynolds passed away late Wednesday night (28) at the age of 84, a victim of a stroke; her son Tedd Fisher reported the news of his mother's death and highlighted that the stress of losing her daughter was "too much" for Reynolds; according to the star's son, his mother said she "wanted to be with Carrie" when she was hospitalized on Wednesday after falling ill at her son's home in Beverly Hills, while discussing the details of her daughter's funeral.

Just over 24 hours after losing her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher, artist Debbie Reynolds passed away late Wednesday night (28), aged 84, victim of a stroke.

Her son, Tedd Fisher, broke the news of his mother's death and stressed that the stress of losing his daughter was "too much" for Reynolds, according to the Ansa news agency.

According to the star's son, his mother stated that she "wanted to be with Carrie" when she was hospitalized on Wednesday after falling ill at her son's home in Beverly Hills while discussing the details of her daughter's funeral. "Now, she is with Carrie and we are heartbroken," Fisher added.

One of the last "queens" of Hollywood, Debbie Reynolds had her first major role in the 1952 classic Singing in the Rain, with Gene Kelly. She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the 1964 film The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Other notable films she participated in include In & Out (1997) and The Bodyguard (1992).

On television, she recently appeared in two highly successful series: Family Guy (2008) and Will & Grace (1999-2006).

Despite never winning an Oscar, the Academy awarded him the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Reynolds also received a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.
