Brazilian mission in China holds meeting on financial cooperation and urban risk management
Meetings in Shanghai are part of an official mission to strengthen strategic partnerships in priority areas for Brazil
247 - The Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, is fulfilling official commitments in Shanghai this Thursday (14) as part of the Federal Government's mission to China. According to information from the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, the program includes meetings with the president of the New Development Bank (BRICS Bank), Dilma Rousseff, as well as meetings with representatives of municipal institutions and Chinese companies specialized in urban management and disaster response.
In the morning, the Brazilian delegation will visit the headquarters of the BRICS Bank, where they will be received by Dilma Rousseff. During the meeting, a credit operation worth US$500 million will be formalized with the New Development Bank (NDB/BRICS). The funds will be allocated to the Development Funds of the North, Northeast, and Central-West regions, with the aim of boosting structuring projects in the areas of logistics, energy, bioeconomy, and agro-industry.
The afternoon agenda includes a visit to the headquarters of Shanghai Urban Construction Urban Operations. There, the delegation will participate in activities focused on emergency management and technological innovation. These include a visit to the Digital Urban Operations Management Center, a presentation on the company's work in urban disaster prevention and response, and an exchange of experiences with local authorities—including the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the Shanghai Municipal Emergency Management Department.
The mission is part of the minister's official agenda in China and seeks to expand bilateral cooperation in strategic areas such as water security, infrastructure, the environment, and strengthening disaster prevention and response capabilities in Brazil.
