247, with Resistance - The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) defend respect for constitutionality, peace and development in Venezuela to confront coup attempts, said the head of the Strategic Operational Command, Remigio Ceballos, on Wednesday (6).
"Faced with the interventionist threats from the United States government, we have an armed force whose fundamental tasks include military defense, cooperation in maintaining internal order, and active participation in national development," the military leader highlighted in an interview with Telesur.
The FANB is structured as a peacekeeping, humanitarian force, and at the same time prepared to strengthen the nation's defensive capabilities, he emphasized.
"In Venezuela, sovereignty is exercised through the constitutional text and the vote, and that is what we are defending," he said, referring to the call made by the opposition elite for military support in establishing a parallel government in the country.
According to Ceballos, patriotic consciousness and a fighting spirit are the most powerful weapons of a civilian or soldier, and "no one will break that because, moreover, we have a historical burden of great sentiment in defending the homeland."
"Through the Magna Carta we will defend the homeland, its institutions, because we take an oath to even lose our lives if necessary and never abandon our superiors," he emphasized.
In this context, the Venezuelan armed forces have been conducting civic-military exercises since the end of January to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Congress of Angostura.
The preparation of the national scenario for the military maneuvers, which will take place from February 10 to 15, ratifies the commitment of the military forces to the defense of the nation, clarified President Nicolás Maduro.
These actions will be carried out with the aim of ensuring the preparedness and cohesion of the FANB (National Bolivarian Armed Forces), as well as strengthening the country's defensive capabilities.
