Message in a bottle: researcher finds bottle and its destiny.

Paula Pierce received a letter inside a Coca-Cola bottle; the contents were thrown by her father between 1960 and 1980.

247 – American Paula Pierce received a big surprise: an old Coca-Cola bottle thrown into the sea by her late father. Inside the bottle was a message addressed to the hotel where she currently lives. The place, located in the coastal town of Hampton Beach, in the American state of New Hampshire, belonged to Paula's parents.

The message was found by Kentucky State English teacher Clint Buffington. Buffington's hobby is searching for and collecting messages in bottles and trying to find senders or recipients. The teacher found Paula's bottle, containing a yellowed piece of paper, about 3.200 kilometers south of New Hampshire, in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Even after so many years sailing the waters of the region, the contents of the bottle were not damaged. The message asked: “Return to (address) Ocean Boulevard, 419 and receive a $150 reward from Tina, owner of the Beachcomer.” Paula's mother, Dona Tina, passed away in the 80s, and Beachcomer refers to the name of the Beachcomber hotel, misspelled. The hotel owner learned of the message when contacted by the local newspaper, Seacoast Online. “It was like getting in touch with the past,” Paula told the American television network CBS. According to her, her father wrote the note as a way to play a joke on his wife.
