Medvedev says Japanese prime minister betrayed the memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki victims.
The vice-president of Russia's Security Council says that allusions to plans for a Russian nuclear attack are paranoia.
TASS - Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida acted as an assistant to the US and betrayed the memory of hundreds of thousands of victims of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, said Russian Security Council Vice Chairman Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday (14).
Medvedev called the joint statement made by Kishida and US President Joe Biden that any potential use of nuclear weapons by Russia in Ukraine would be an irreparable hostile act against humanity "a horrific shame." Medvedev emphasized that he "will not even comment on the paranoia regarding our state's nuclear plans."
"Think about it. The head of the Japanese government, in his humiliating submissive ecstasy, talks nonsense about Russia, betraying the memory of hundreds of thousands of Japanese citizens who burned in the nuclear fires of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And Kishida cared no less that the US was the only state that used nuclear weapons. And Kishida's own homeland was the only victim," the official said on his Telegram channel.
According to Medvedev, the Japanese prime minister should have "reminded the President of the United States of this and demanded remorse, which was not expressed by the United States authorities, for this act of war."
"But no. Kishida is just a service team for the Americans. And employees can't have courage. The Japanese can only feel pity," said Medvedev. He described a method that the Japanese prime minister could have used to "wash away" this shame, but stated his certainty that "the concept of honor is not characteristic of this generation of Japanese vassals."
On Friday, Biden and Kishida held a meeting in Washington, issuing a joint statement afterward. In particular, the statement mentions new sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine, and asserts that Russia's potential use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine would be unacceptable.
