247, with Reuters - British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to pledge this week to give Parliament another opportunity, until February 27, to express its opinion on Brexit, while she tries to buy time to negotiate a new deal with the European Union (EU).

With the deadline for the UK's departure approaching on March 29, May is trying to persuade the EU to change the agreement that was negotiated between London and Brussels at the end of last year, but rejected in January by a large majority in the British parliament.

May wants to win the votes of MPs from her Conservative Party with changes related to the Northern Ireland border, but the EU has refused to renegotiate that part of the agreement, proposing instead that May give in to the opposition Labour Party and agree to closer ties between the UK and Europe.

The impasse has left the world's fifth-largest economy facing an uncertain future, shaking financial markets and businesses in general with the prospect of a disorderly exit from the European bloc, which could harm the economy.

On Wednesday (13), May is due to update parliamentarians on the progress of her negotiations. The following day, she is due to hear the opinions of lawmakers. According to the new promise, the Prime Minister must give another opportunity for this process to be repeated by February 27.
