Maradona dedicates Dorados' victory in Mexico to Maduro.

Diego Maradona, former Argentine football star, dedicated his team's victory on Sunday (31), the Mexican Dorados de Sinaloa, to Nicolás Maduro and criticized the United States and Donald Trump; “I want to dedicate this triumph to Nicolás Maduro and to all of Venezuela that is suffering, that the sheriffs of the world, who are these Yankees, who because they have the biggest bomb in the world believe they can outsmart us, no, we can't,” said Maradona

Carlos Calvo Pacheco (Reuters) - Former Argentine soccer star Diego Maradona dedicated a victory for his team, Mexican side Dorados de Sinaloa, to Nicolás Maduro and criticized the United States and its president, Donald Trump.

On Sunday, Dorados de Sinaloa defeated Tampico Madero 3-2 in the 13th round of the Clausura tournament, the second division of Mexico.

"I want to dedicate this triumph to Nicolás Maduro and to all of Venezuela, which is suffering, because the world's sheriffs, these Yankees, who, because they have the biggest bomb in the world, believe they can outsmart us, no, we can't," said Maradona in a press conference after the match.

"This puppet they have as president doesn't fool us," he added.

Venezuela plunged into a political crisis when Juan Guaidó declared himself interim president in January, invoking clauses of the Constitution, after accusing Maduro of winning re-election fraudulently. The opposition leader received support from dozens of countries in the Americas, including the United States, and from Europe that do not recognize Maduro.

Maradona, who led Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup, has been the coach of Dorados since September 2018, and sympathizes with the political project led for 14 years by the late President Hugo Chávez and inherited by Maduro.
