Caracas - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro inaugurated on Saturday (28) the new Bolivarian National Armed Forces Television (TV Fanb), a channel that aims to diversify the national system and show the country's military "power". "We must turn TV Fanb into a school because we are going to diversify the country's television and communications system," he said.

Maduro announced that in addition to the initial investment in the project (54 million bolivars fuertes, equivalent to 6,21 million euros), Venezuela will make the necessary investments to strengthen the television system beyond its borders.

"We are going to build a new television culture from Venezuela and share it with our brothers and sisters around the world. A television culture for life, work, productivity, peace, for the good of humanity. We are going to show the power of the Bolivarian Armed Forces," he said.

The new television channel began broadcasting with the Venezuelan National Anthem and a program featuring the Head of State, who was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Carmen Meléndez.

The channel is available on free-to-air television and its programming includes broadcasts of military training exercises and daily training activities, documentaries, and soap operas.

According to the president of TV Fanb, General Pedro Luís Álvarez Bellorín, the programming will also include the segment Mujeres con Guaramo (Women with Courage), to showcase the lives of female military personnel, and the Programa Cátedra Comandante Supremo Hugo Chávez (Commander Supreme Hugo Chávez Chair Program), to teach the thinking of the Bolivarian doctrine.
