Macron says that he and Lula believe that peace in Ukraine will only be possible through broad and direct negotiations.
The presidents of Brazil and France argue that Russia and Ukraine should engage in direct talks.
247 - “I just spoke with President Lula. We believe together that peace in Ukraine can only be achieved through discussions that bring Russia and Ukraine together around the same table,” wrote French President Emmanuel Macron on social media after a telephone conversation on Tuesday (18) with President Lula.
"Peace is possible and the international community must mobilize," Macron emphasized.
The French president also announced that he will work with Brazil to ensure that the COP in Belém is a success.
Macron made a point of noting that "together, we have several initiatives in favor of the climate, biodiversity, oceans, democracy, as well as economic and agricultural development," and announced that President Lula will make a state visit to France next June.
