The seventh edition of the meeting will bring together political leaders and social movements in defense of democracy and human rights.

The event is organized by international collectives and committees in solidarity with Lula and with democracy in Brazil. Inspired by "Mandela Day," Lula Day emerged as a way to honor the legacy of the Brazilian president and discuss issues that reflect the progress and challenges of his government.

From celebration to political debate

The organizer Giuditta Ribeiro He explains that the event evolved from a simple birthday celebration into a space for political reflection. "Initially, the Lula Day events were basically celebratory, with a birthday party, cake, and demonstrations in the streets," he said.

With the pandemic, the format changed. "After Covid, we realized that we shouldn't limit ourselves to parties, but also open up space for political debate," he pointed out.

Giuditta states that the movement continues. independent and self-financed, focusing on highlighting the achievements of Lula's government and giving visibility to social causes. "The idea is always to emphasize the advances of Lula's government and promote debates with politicians and social movements, in addition to artistic presentations," he said.
