Sputnik Brazil - Upon resigning as Interior Minister, Suella Braverman cited a breach of rules and concerns about the direction of the government. In a resignation letter published on her social media, Braverman said: "It is with great regret that I am choosing to submit my resignation."

In the letter, she said she sent an official document from her personal email to a fellow parliamentarian to garner support for her policy. This, she said, "constitutes a technical violation of the rules."

Braverman said he realized his mistake and reported it to the official channels, but that resigning was the right thing to do.

"Not only have we broken important promises that were made to our constituents, but I also have serious concerns about this administration's commitment to honoring the pledges in the manifesto, such as reducing the overall number of migrants and stopping illegal migration, particularly the dangerous small-boat crossings," Braverman wrote.

According to The Guardian, Truss cancelled a planned visit to a defense technology company to speak with Braverman at a meeting in the UK parliament. The decision to dismiss the Home Secretary was pressured by the UK's new Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, the newspaper noted, citing government sources.

Braverman criticized Truss's reversal of his plans to introduce tax cuts for the wealthy to boost economic activity. Hunt, in turn, was responsible for canceling almost all the measures of the controversial economic support plan proposed by his predecessor Kwasi Kwarteng to stabilize the economic situation.

Braverman would be the second senior UK government official to resign in less than five days. In recent weeks, the Truss government has been heavily criticized for its failed economic policies that have caused market turmoil, and a growing number of Conservative members have called for the Prime Minister's resignation.

Prime Minister Liz Truss is under increasing fire for throwing markets into turmoil and drastically changing policy plans in just a few days. Several media reports, including Sky News, say Braverman is likely to be succeeded by Grant Shapps, the former transport secretary.
