US accusation games against China lead nowhere.

The Xinhua news agency published a commentary outlining the Chinese government's position on US accusations that the Asian country is responsible for the coronavirus pandemic.

Xinhua - The US government has multiplied its accusations against China, even while preoccupied with fighting the coronavirus on its own territory. This is absurd and a crude political spectacle.

Recently, attorneys general from the states of Missouri and Mississippi filed lawsuits against China, demanding that the Asian country be held accountable and compensate for the losses incurred during the coronavirus outbreak.

The allegation has no legal or factual basis, but only incites hatred.

Based on the principle of equal sovereignty prescribed by international law, US national courts have no jurisdiction over sovereign actions taken by the Chinese government in response to the epidemic.

China has not concealed the facts and has been sharing information with the world promptly from the beginning. Since January 3, China has been regularly informing the WHO and relevant countries, including the United States, about the COVID-19 outbreak.

On January 12, China shared information with the WHO regarding the genome sequence of the novel coronavirus, establishing a solid foundation for global scientific research efforts and the development of vaccines against COVID-19, humanity's common enemy.

China has been fulfilling its obligations under the International Health Regulations. As the WHO commented, China is setting a new benchmark for the world in meeting its international obligations.

The abuse of litigation against China has little legal significance, but it serves as a political spectacle in an election year in the United States.

According to a US media report, some Republican politicians have drafted campaign guidelines urging candidates to address the coronavirus crisis by aggressively attacking China. Clearly, in an election year complicated by the coronavirus epidemic, China has been the target of intense attacks.

China conducted epidemic prevention and control in an open, transparent, and responsible manner. US politicians should dedicate more time to finding effective ways to control the outbreak within the country as quickly as possible, instead of seeking scapegoats and shirking their responsibilities.
