247 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs forwarded this Monday (25) to the Italian government the official request for the extradition of Eduardo Tagliaferro, former advisor to the Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes. According to the column of journalist Lauro Jardim, of The GlobeThe Brazilian embassy in Rome formally submitted the request via a written note to the Farnesina, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The request originated from a petition by Moraes, sent to the Ministry of Justice, which forwarded the document to Itamaraty for formalization. Tagliaferro, who currently lives in Italy — the same destination chosen by congresswoman Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) when fleeing Brazil — is also preparing a complaint against Moraes to present to the European Parliament.

The Attorney General's Office (PGR) accuses Tagliaferro of a series of crimes, including violation of professional secrecy, coercion during legal proceedings, obstruction of investigations into criminal offenses involving organized crime, and attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law.

According to the complaint, as reported, the former aide allegedly passed on confidential information obtained during his time working alongside Moraes as president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The Attorney General's Office (PGR) believes these leaks aimed to hinder investigations and benefit his own interests and those of third parties.

In April of this year, the Federal Police indicted Tagliaferro for disclosing private conversations between Moraes and employees of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) and the STF (Supreme Federal Court), which the investigation considered a violation of professional secrecy to the detriment of public administration.

On social media, Tagliaferro has reinforced the narrative of political persecution. In a post made at the end of July, he stated that he would reveal the "behind-the-scenes" workings of Moraes's office. "I have a lot against the minister, who destroyed my life and the lives of several other people," he said. The former advisor has the support of groups linked to Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and aligns himself with voices that question Moraes's decisions, pointing to alleged abuses by the magistrate.

According to the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, Tagliaferro's continued stay in Italy is part of a strategy orchestrated by individuals under investigation who left Brazil to strengthen attacks against the work of the authorities. For Gonet, Tagliaferro's conduct clearly demonstrates his alignment with a criminal organization whose objective is to "intensify offensive reactions against the legitimate work of the Brazilian authorities responsible for the investigations and criminal proceedings that are ongoing."
