Itamaraty demands two-state solution after Trump's plan for Gaza advances.

Earlier, Hamas said it largely agreed with the US plan.

247 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a note this Saturday (4) that it is following "attentively" the discussions that followed the announcement, by the US government, of the new ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip. The note was published after the Palestinian movement Hamas stated that it largely agrees with the plan of US President Donald Trump for Gaza.

According to Itamaraty (Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the population of the Palestinian enclave "continues to be plagued, two years later, by deaths, forced displacement, famine, and the destruction of homes and vital infrastructure."

The ministry also said it hopes the plan will lead to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, based on a two-state solution.

"Recognizing the efforts of the mediating countries to end the conflict, Brazil hopes that, if accepted and implemented by the parties, the plan will result, among other measures, in the immediate and permanent cessation of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, the release of the remaining hostages, the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid, and the urgent commencement of the reconstruction of the territory, under Palestinian appropriation and supervision. Furthermore, it advocates for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the restoration of the political and geographical unity of Palestine," the document states.

"Brazil reaffirms its conviction that the only path to a just, stable and lasting peace in the Middle East is through the implementation of the two-state solution, with an independent and viable Palestinian state living side by side with Israel, in peace and security, within the 1967 borders, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital," it adds.

Finally, the statement considers that the deployment of an international military force to Gaza, as advocated by Trump, should only occur after approval by the UN Security Council.
