Israel helped draft Trump's plan for Gaza.
The document leaves open the possibility of creating a sovereign Palestinian state, only mentioning the Palestinian people's desire for self-determination.
247 - Israel contributed to the formulation of US President Donald Trump's plan for a solution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip and demanded several changes, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed officials.
On Monday (29), the White House released its "peace plan," consisting of 20 points. According to Al Jazeera, which cited a diplomatic source, Egypt and Qatar delivered the document to Hamas, which pledged to analyze it. Trump's proposal includes, among other points, an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages within 72 hours. It also stipulates that Hamas and "other groups" renounce any participation in the government of Gaza, directly or indirectly. The enclave would be administered by a "technocratic and apolitical Palestinian committee," overseen by an international body chaired by Trump himself.
According to the report, Israel helped shape the plan and insisted on several amendments, which were incorporated into the final version. The document leaves open the possibility of creating a sovereign Palestinian state, only mentioning the Palestinian people's desire for self-determination.
Arab authorities interviewed by the newspaper also stated that Saudi Arabia is unlikely to finance Trump's proposal without the inclusion of a two-state solution to the conflict.
