The suspect in the young man's death is a Brazilian friend of the victim, Begoleã Mendes Fernandes, 26, arrested in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, with pieces of human flesh in his suitcase.

In his testimony, Begoleã stated that he killed Alan on Sunday (26) in self-defense. Furthermore, he claimed that his friend was a cannibal, had served him “human steak” and shown him videos of executions on his cell phone.

Begoleã intended to travel from Portugal to Belo Horizonte, but raised suspicions with the Immigration and Borders Service by presenting an Italian identity card and carrying documents in the name of third parties.

“The only thing we believe is that this boy [Begoleã] is crazy and a murderer. Alan was a hardworking, family-oriented, and good boy. A really good person. It makes no sense to claim that he wanted to kill someone,” said Kamila dos Anjos Lopes, 25, Alan's sister, in an interview with the portal. Metropolis.
