Brazil Agency - The United Nations Security Council meeting brought together the diplomatic representatives of Iran, Israel, and the United States, countries involved in a conflict that has put the world on alert.

In his address, Iranian Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani said that his country will give a proportionate response to the attacks carried out by Israel and the United States.

"As an independent nation, Iran reserves the full and legitimate right to defend itself against this blatant aggression by the United States and the Israeli government. The magnitude of Iran's response will be determined by its armed forces," stated the Iranian representative.

According to the diplomat, the United States, "in a reckless manner," chose to sacrifice its security to protect Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He reiterated that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.

The ambassador urged the Security Council to categorically condemn the aggressions committed against Iran, adopt effective measures against the aggressors, and hold them accountable for their actions. The council meeting ended without any resolution being adopted.

Free world

Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, began his speech by saying that last night changed world history, referring to the United States' attack on the nuclear power plants in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. "The U.S., leader of the free world, eliminated the greatest existential threat to the free world."

According to Danon, today the entire world should thank the US for eliminating the greatest threat to the world today. The Israeli representative criticized those who denounce the United States and Israel for the attacks.

“Where were you when Iran enriched uranium beyond levels necessary for civilian use and when it buried entire fortresses beneath mountains to prepare to exterminate Israel? Where were you when Iran turned negotiations into a charade of deception and strategy? Where were you? You said nothing. You were complicit, you were afraid. You were mere spectators.”

Conflict

Accusing Iran of being close to developing a nuclear weapon, Israel launched a surprise attack against the country on the 13th, expanding the war in the Middle East.

This Saturday (21), the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear plants: Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan.

Iran claims its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only and that it was in the midst of negotiations with the United States to establish agreements that would ensure compliance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, to which it is a signatory.

However, the IAEA has been accusing Iran of failing to fulfill all its obligations, despite acknowledging that it has no evidence that the country is building an atomic bomb. Iran accuses the agency of acting "politically motivated" and directed by Western powers such as the US, France, and Great Britain, which have supported Israel in the war against Tehran.

In March, US intelligence said Iran was not building nuclear weapons, information that has now been questioned by President Donald Trump himself.

Although Israel does not accept that Tehran has nuclear weapons, various sources throughout history have indicated that the country has maintained a large, secret nuclear program since the 1950s. This project has reportedly developed at least 90 atomic warheads.
