247 - "The violating US government was forced by Iran to assume its responsibilities under international treaties." This is the strategic effect of the arrival of oil tankers in Venezuela, according to the Persian ambassador in Caracas, Hoyatollah Soltani.

The Persian diplomat added that Iran had achieved the victory that the international community and the United Nations (UN) had desired for many years, namely, forcing Washington to respect its obligations stipulated in international conventions.

The government in Tehran has sent five tankers to the Bolivarian Republic to alleviate the severe fuel shortage the South American country is suffering as a result of illegal and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States as part of its pressure campaign against the legitimate government of Venezuela, presided over by Nicolás Maduro.

The arrival of Iranian oil tankers in the Caribbean Sea, right under the nose of the US, to trade with Venezuela, marks the end of the unipolar system, says an Iranian official.

Three of the five tankers, carrying approximately 1,53 million barrels of fuel, are already in Venezuelan waters: the 'Fortuna', the 'Floresta', and the 'Petúnia'. All arrived in the South American country escorted by the Venezuelan armed forces.

Meanwhile, the fourth Iranian ship, the 'Faxon', is expected to arrive in Venezuelan waters this Wednesday, and the last one, 'Cravo', is scheduled to arrive on June 1st, according to Iranian media.

Venezuelan authorities welcomed Iran's aid to the country amid sanctions and threats from the United States, noting that the deployment of Iranian ships constitutes a serious setback for US President Donald Trump, who has increased levels of hostility against the independent and sovereign peoples of Venezuela and Iran.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, in turn, praised the sending of Iranian tankers as a symbol of freedom and courage for both countries and a landmark of independence.
