WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hillary Clinton acknowledged that she is considering running for President of the United States in 2016 and said she was very aware of the "political and governmental challenges" she would face if she reached the White House.

The former US Secretary of State and former First Lady said in an interview with New York magazine that she has not yet decided whether or not to run, adding that she is trying to be "both pragmatic and realistic."

"I'm in no hurry," Hillary told the magazine in an article published on its website on Sunday. "I think it's a serious decision, not to be taken lightly, nor soon," she added.

Hillary, who also served as a senator for the state of New York, ran for the Democratic Party's nomination to run for President of the United States in 2008, but lost to the current president, Barack Obama.

"I think I have a pretty good idea of the political and governmental challenges our leaders are facing," he said. "And I will do whatever I can from whatever position I find myself in to defend the values and policies that I believe are right for the country," he added.

While reflecting on the 2016 election, Hillary said she will continue "weighing what factors would influence her to make a decision one way or another."
