The government today (16) removed nine Brazilians from the Gaza Strip and took them to Egypt. According to Itamaraty, they crossed the border at the Rafah post, were received by two employees of the Brazilian Embassy in Egypt and taken to Cairo, the Egyptian capital, where they are staying in hotels.

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry's press office informed Agência Brasil that they contacted representatives of the Brazilian Representation in Ramallah, in the West Bank, which provides services to Brazilians in the Palestinian territories. These representatives are part of a group of 15 Brazilians residing in Palestine, most of whom hold dual citizenship. According to the Foreign Ministry, six of them stated that, for the time being, they prefer to remain in the Gaza Strip.

Gaza has 1,8 million residents and is already facing water and power shortages.

On Wednesday, an Israeli plane dropped leaflets warning the more than 100 residents of the area to immediately move to another part of the city. In nine days of conflict, Israeli attacks on Palestinian territory have left approximately 200 dead and 1,4 wounded, mostly civilians. Among the Israelis, two people have died and more than 60 have been injured.
