Lula's government warns Ukraine that Celso Amorim's trip cannot be used as war propaganda.

The Brazilian president has asked his special advisor to visit Ukraine in order to demonstrate balance and a willingness to listen to both sides involved in the international conflict.

The ambassador is expected to travel to the Ukrainian capital next week. Ukrainians have expressed a desire to take Amorim to some of the areas invaded by Russian troops, with the city of Bucha being one possible location. Kyiv aims for Amorim to "witness with his own eyes" and consider the "pains, emotions, and interests" of Ukrainians when influencing the Brazilian government's position on the conflict.

In an effort to demonstrate balance and listen to all parties involved in the conflict, Lula and Zelensky had a telephone conversation. However, the government was criticized for sending only a delegation to Moscow and not making a stop in Kiev.

That said, Lula instructed Amorim to also visit the Ukrainians.However, the Brazilian government made it clear to the authorities in Kiev that it did not want the trip to become an endorsement of the Ukrainian position, nor did it want the images to be used as part of war propaganda.
