Reuters The U.S. congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol issued subpoenas Tuesday to three lawyers who joined former President Donald Trump's failed attempt to overturn his election defeat: Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis.

The House committee has requested that pro-Trump lawyers hand over documents and testify on February 8.

Representative Bennie Thompson, chairman of the committee, said in a statement that the panel expects lawyers to join the nearly 400 witnesses who have testified before the committee as part of the investigation into the causes of the attack.

The committee also issued a subpoena on Tuesday to Boris Epshteyn, a political advisor to Trump.
