Reuters - Ukrainian engineers joined forces on Sunday to repair a gas pipeline damaged by Russian forces, disrupting supplies in parts of southeastern Ukraine, said the governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko.

Engineers shut off the pipeline to prevent a gas leak, he said, adding that the flow was decreasing and would stop completely by the end of the day.

Kyrylenko said that all locations between the city of Vuhledar, in the Donetsk region, and the port of Berdyansk will be without gas while the damage is repaired. The distance between the two cities is 117 kilometers.

"We are working hard to resolve this problem as quickly as possible," said Kyrylenko.
