Syrian forces have killed at least 52, activists say.

Two Syrian human rights groups said that government forces killed at least 52 people in the latest phase of a crackdown on dissidents, citing that the death toll could rise to 69. The fatalities occurred mainly in the eastern city of Deir el-Zour and the central city of Houleh. The head of the Syrian League for Human Rights in Damascus, Abdul-Karim Rihawi, said that at least 42 people were killed in Deir el-Zour and 10 people in Houleh. Ammar Qurabi, head of the National Organization for Human Rights in Syria, said that 42 people were killed in Deir el-Zour and 17 in Houleh. He says that 10 people were killed while attending a funeral in Idlib.
