"Imarati served as an assistant to the military leader of the regional Islamic State (IS) group in Afghanistan and oversaw militants in clashes in the Côte district," said the Provincial Governor's Office.
Previously, it was reported that in recent days the Afghan army eliminated 122 ISIS militants in the eastern province of Nangarhar. The situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated considerably in recent months.
The radical Taliban movement controls a large area in the country's rural sectors and has launched a major offensive against the largest cities. At the same time, the influence of the Islamic State has increased.
