Ukrainian forces attempted to retake lost positions in two villages south of Donetsk and attack another village, but all attacks were repelled by Russian forces.

"With artillery fire and actions by assault groups, the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were repelled to their initial positions," the statement said.

Reports indicate that enemy casualties, including dead and wounded, reached up to 40 Ukrainian soldiers, and that a tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, and five pickup trucks were destroyed.

According to the Defense Ministry, in the last 24 hours in the Zaporozhie region, Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian depot of ammunition for Himars multiple rocket launcher systems.
