Five people were killed, one was injured and another went missing as a result of an explosion at a chemical plant in eastern China, the local government said on Monday (1st).
According to the British news agency Reuters, the explosion occurred in the morning at the hydrogen peroxide production area of Luxi Chemical, in the city of Liaocheng, Shandong province. The facility belongs to the Chinese multinational conglomerate Sinochem, in the chemical and energy sector.
The fire has been extinguished, the Liaocheng High-Tech Zone Management Committee said in a statement.
The committee mentioned that the cause of the explosion was being investigated.
