TASS - The Israeli army is remaining indefinitely in the buffer zone in Lebanon, said Defense Minister Israel Katz.

"There is a buffer zone (on the border with Lebanon). It wasn't easy, but I stood firm, and we received the green light from the United States. We gave them a map, and we are staying indefinitely – it depends on the situation, not the time," Katz said, according to his office, at a conference of local government chiefs in Israel.

On February 17, the Ynet news channel reported that the Israeli army would withdraw from southern Lebanon as part of the ceasefire agreement, but would remain in five strategic positions. According to Radio Kan, the Israeli army will remain in these five positions to prevent Hezbollah units from resuming their activities in southern Lebanon.
