US violated New START procedures, says Russian ambassador.
Russian diplomacy asserts there is inequality in the enforcement of rules for converting launchers and bombers.
Sputnik - The United States, in violation of the New START Treaty procedure, declared that submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) launchers and heavy bombers are incapable of carrying out nuclear missions, said the Russian ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, on Tuesday (28).
"Following a procedure not agreed upon with Russia, the US declared SLBM launchers and heavy bombers incapable of carrying out nuclear missions. More than a hundred of them were illegitimately removed from the Treaty's counting rules. Our inspectors never had the opportunity to verify the results of the 'conversion'," Antonov told reporters.
