According to information published by the AFP news agency, the US Department of Justice said that, in accordance with an agreement reached in September 2021, the charges against the daughter of the founder of the Chinese telecommunications company have been dropped and cannot be reviewed.
Executive Meng Wanzhou was accused of "bank fraud," lying to circumvent US sanctions against Iran, a crime punishable by more than 30 years in prison in the US. There were threats that she would be extradited to the country.
