The US, Egypt, Israel, and Qatar are discussing a ceasefire in Gaza.

Negotiations in Paris, France, made considerable progress on Sunday, according to The New York Times.

247 - The director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, participated in talks with officials from Egypt, Qatar and Israel this Sunday (28) in Paris to explore the possibility of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. Sources close to the participants revealed this to The New York Times, according to the newspaper. The GlobeThe discussions revolved around finding a possible solution, focusing on the release of more than 100 hostages held by Hamas and a suspension of hostilities in Gaza for about two months.

Negotiations have progressed considerably, fueling hopes for a positive resolution. Although significant differences still need to be addressed, negotiators express optimism that a final agreement is near. 

The hostages have been in custody since October 7, when armed Hamas militants killed approximately 1,2 people and captured another 240 in Israel. Since then, Israel's military retaliation has resulted in the deaths of more than 25 people, mostly women and children, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
